Essential Reminders on the Path of Mindfulness

The practice of mindfulness can seem disconnected from everyday life, especially for beginners as well as more experienced individuals who may be striving for elusive spiritual or psychological breakthroughs. The beauty of the practice is in its simplicity. Our habits of mind tend to make the practice much more complicated than it is. Through presentation, discussion, and guided meditation, Dr. Cammarata will review a collection of practical reminders supporting the practice of mindfulness that can be shared with patients and students while also being applicable to the clinician, in and outside of the consultation room. Beyond ‘paying attention’, mindfulness is about ‘remembering’ what can liberate the mind, body, and heart from suffering—waking us up from the dream of who we think we are. These reminders can serve as antidotes for the human tendency toward forgetfulness, creating more space for joy within the formal practice of meditation and in everyday life.
